Kawintra was born and raised in the northern Thailand city of Chiang Mai. Kawintra had been interested in cooking since she was 9 years old. She had learned from her mother as a kitchen hand. Her mother is the best cook and she was inspired by her to learn the taste of very authentic Thai cuisine. Her mother always told her that Thai cooking is not just food that you put everything together and bring to the dish, but Thai cooking is an art that she always uses everything fresh and make from scratch. Picking the freshest ingredients is what her mom always said makes Thai food the most delicious. Her uncle has been a great influence in teaching many of his techniques and styles. He has traveled around Thailand and learned the different foods and flavors of each region. His skills allow him to dissect food in his travels and recreate the flavors in his own kitchen.
Kawintra’s cousin has also been a very positive role in her becoming an experienced Thai chef. Her cousin has been a Thai royal chef for the Thai royal family for the past 30 years. The royal family menu is very authentic and original with extremely high standards.
Kawintra has had the benefit of learning the art of Thai cooking from three of Thailands most talented food artists. This interest in cooking became Kawintra passion and with an interest in teaching also, cooking classes are a perfect way to share traditional Thai culture with the rest of the world.
